I shrunk down a pixel art piece I did earlier today (lunchbox) from 160 x 144 to 32 x32 oixels, to its bare essentials, I hope.

Pixel art for Pixel Dailies, with the prompt “lunch box.” It’s like it takes me longer every time to make one of these. Some of these are more popular than others on Twitter, but that might just be the algorithm trying to lure me into spending more time on Twitter.

Pixel art 🚧 I only hope spending two hours on the frame, not the content, was time spent well, probably not.

Pixel art. Get set, ready, go-o-o! Just for fun.

Pixel art for Pixel Dailies, prompt “Rusty.” My take was the good Dalek from the Peter Capaldi era (Doctor Who).

Pixel art 🚧 I want this to be a more elaborate piece, so I’ll be taking my sweet time. The rectangles are for designing two characters interacting semi-hostile. The brunt of the art will be in setting the mood with props and background.

Today’s Pixel Dailies pixel art prompt was “treasure map."

Pixel art. I asked myself, am I good enough to demo my pixel art making on Twitch, despite most artists using a Mac or Windows? To test, I video screenshot my creation of a sprite in Pixaki on iPad, sped up the video 10 times. I guess not yet, too slow.

Today’s pixel art for Pixel Dailies has the prompt “avery.” Sometimes the literal interpretation is the only I can come up with.

In pixel art, so I’m lectured, the artist has control over single pixels. To test this statement, I created a pixel portrait of Fred Astaire from a black and white photo reference. I guess it’s a work in progress.

Pixel art for the Pixel Dailies prompt “gold.” I’m working in advance, since the PD account tweeter is on UK time, close to my local CET time zone.

Pixel art for today’s Pixel Dailies required a rough sketch before pixeling. The prompt was garland, which is distinct from wreath and laurel, so you know (well, I didn’t beforehand).

Pixel art Today’s Pixel Dailies prompt “windswept” I interpreted as a sailing boat in a storm.

Pixel art 🚧 The ship is designed, scaled and rendered, despite a severe lack of ship design knowledge. My inspiration was the Heron from John Flanagan’s The Brotherband Chronicles, a fantasy Middle Ages young adult story about fictional Vikings, called Scandians.

Pixel art for tomorrow. The way to get better at a skill is to think big and execute small, so you’ll have to make it up as you go.

Pixel art. I always seem to post my images before they’re done. For some reason they don’t seem real until they’re published. No idea why that is.

Pixel art gradients are best done by hand, not with an automated tool. That much is clear, and that it’s time-consuming.
