Character design doesn’t come in a flash with me. It always has been a slow process, rather discouraging imo. I guess I’m not a glutton for details, which is a big drawback for creativity. 🎨

Scaling down often means (partially) redrawing a pixel art drawing.

My flatbed scanner isn’t functional anymore, so I had to scan with iOS. After importing the doodle as a reference, I drew this critter in Pixaki.

Great Scott, BTTF inspired pixel art, started on Linux GrafX2, completed on iPad Pixaki app. 160x144 px, 6 colors.

I made a 32x32 pixel image with GrafX2 on Linux, imported it via the Secure ShellFish app to my iPad, and refined it with the Pixaki app.

Tracing still feels like cheating. Pixel art.

I suppose understanding a face is half the (artistic) battle. Pixel art.

🤔 Good enough for now. I need to be less critical on myself while learning pixel art.

I wonder if it’s worth to continue working on the pixel portrait.

I suppose every obscure famous person (fame is ephemeral) has a fansite. I just draw ‘em in pixels.

Not sure if this qualifies as a favicon. It’s 32 x 32 pixels.

And here’s my 24 x 24 pixel art IRL (6 cm x 6 cm, 4 mm² per pixel mosaic brick).

Here’s a concept of how a piece of pixel art could brighten up a boring bathroom door. The materials for creating said art have yet to arrive, and the door still needs a layer of paint. Well, one can dream of the result, can’t one?

Couldn’t find a 32 x 32 baseplate for pixel art with beads, but I did find a 24 x 24 baseplate. So I adjusted my design for the bathroom door.

Wanted a decoration for my bathroom door, but the only things I could find was either from a sketchy company (possibly a swindler on Amazon.nl) or from far away (high shipping costs). So I guess I’ll have to craft my own, from beads.
